From February through May 2021, Premera Blue Cross requests medical records to comply with requirements for:
- Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS®)
- Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) star quality standards for patient care
CIOX Health (CIOX) supports our efforts in retrieving medical records for your patients who are Premera Medicare Advantage members.
CIOX also retrieves medical records for patients who live in Washington but are enrolled in another state’s Blue Cross Medicare Advantage PPO plan.
We ask that you allow CIOX to retrieve medical records on our behalf. CIOX will contact you and provide the list of records required, documentation requirements, and options for you to provide the records via:
- Secure CIOX provider website
- Fax
- Mail
You don’t need to submit patient-authorized information releases to comply with medical record requests when both the provider and healthcare plan have a relationship with the patient, and the information relates to this relationship. For more information about privacy rules, go to hhs.gov/hipaa.
