Premera continues to focus on supporting its customers in addressing affordability, quality, and experience to improve customers’ lives by making healthcare work better. Part of this focus in recent years has been on variation in care that customers experience,
and how Premera supports its providers with data and information on quality, cost, and experience.
To help members make well informed healthcare choices, Premera developed the Premier Provider program. This high-performance provider designation program transparently identifies high-performing providers on national and industry adopted standards of
quality and cost-efficiency. The program evaluates contracted provider performance across 12 specialties, including primary care and pediatrics.
In the coming weeks, providers will be designated as high performing in quality, cost efficiency, or both. These high-performance designations will be featured on Premera’s member-facing provider search tools and used by Premera in its service model to customers.
Performance reporting will be available to providers, and the full program methodology will be detailed in a white paper available on the Premier Provider web page which includes a program summary, FAQ, and contact information.
