Dental Claims Processing Change

    Beginning May 1, 2017, Premera changed our policies about claims for services that are considered not dentally necessary. Once dental claims for these services are processed, they become provider liability.

    Previously, we denied claims for these services as member liability. This change is consistent with language in our provider dental contracts.

    How do I avoid claims returning as provider liability?

    Although this change will affect only a small number of claims, it's still important to check your patient's benefits before providing services. You can do this by using our Benefits and Eligibility toolor by calling customer service at 800-722-4714, option 2.
