Premera’s medical policy for serology testing is consistent with Center for Disease Control’s guidance that serology should not be used to determine immune status in individuals.
Serology tests are considered medically necessary only when performed in an inpatient setting and will not be associated with a co-pay or deductible specific to the serology test. This medical policy allows for such testing.
