Payment Policy: Personal Protective Equipment

  • November 5, 2020

As of November 1, 2020, Personal protective equipment (PPE) will no longer be separately reimbursable.

PPE includes masks, gowns, gloves, face shields, shoe covers, protective barriers and other products worn by the healthcare provider, their clinical staff or other healthcare providers and patients.

When PPE is worn as part of a dental, medical or pharmacist healthcare visit, it’s considered part of the practice expenses included in the main dental medical or pharmacy related procedure rendered to a patient. PPE will not be separately reimbursable.
