Washington State Legislature Sets Telehealth Guidelines

  • July 7, 2022

Washington House Bill 1196 requires health plans to reimburse providers for health care services provided through telemedicine (audio-only and audio-video) the same amount of compensation the carrier would pay the provider if the health care service were provided in person by the provider. This house bill applies to provider practices of 10 or fewer providers.

What does this mean for providers?

Starting October 7, 2022, providers with 11 or more practitioners will return to payment as determined by their agreed upon contractual agreement. Provider practices of 10 or less practitioners will be paid the same amount of compensation for in-person visits and telemedicine visits.
