Starting December 1, 2017, health plans are required to fully cover low-to-moderate generic Statins to prevent cardiovascular events. The United States Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) initiated the new Affordable Care Act (ACA) mandate. Groups and individuals that have exclusive ACA coverage can now receive generic statin prescriptions at no cost.
