New 12-Month Contraceptive Coverage Mandate

  • December 7, 2017

Starting January 1, 2018, Washington state law (WA HB1234) requires all health benefit plans to reimburse a healthcare provider, or any dispensing entity, for supplying patients with up to a 12-month supply of contraceptives.

The goal of HB1234 is to ensure all patients have access to contraceptives, including those who are unable to pick up the prescription refill each month. Customers must request this supply from their pharmacy and it doesn't change the cost associated with their prescription.
