Voluntarily Recall on NP Thyroid®, Thyroid Tablets, and USP Lots

  • May 20, 2021

On April 29, 2021, Acella Pharmaceuticals, LLC, voluntarily recalled certain lots of 15-mg, 30-mg, 60-mg, 90-mg and 120-mg NP Thyroid®, Thyroid Tablets, and USP [levothyroxine (T4) and liothyronine (T3)]. The products are being recalled because routine testing has found these lots to be sub-potent. The product contains less than 90% of the labeled amount of liothyronine (T3) and/or levothyroxine (T4).

Patients with a prescription will be contacted by mail and should continue to take it as directed and contact their prescribing provider for alternative treatment options. Acella is notifying its consignees to discontinue distribution of the lots being recalled and is arranging for return of all recalled products.

For more information and specific information on the lots being recalled, see the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announcement.
