Premera will not apply the 2% payment reduction for Medicare Advantage claims with dates of service May 1, 2020 through December 31, 2020.
This is in response to action by Congress and the Senate in which they passed the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act on March 25 to help healthcare organizations during the current crisis. Part of the CARES Act suspends the 2% reduction to Medicare payments by suspending Medicare sequestration from May 1, 2020 through December 31, 2020. This temporary suspension extends the mandatory sequestration policy out by an additional year.
