Small Group: New Washington Multiple Choice Guidelines

  • February 16, 2023

Premera is pleased to announce changes in the multiple-choice guidelines for small groups (1-50 employees). These changes are available for groups with effective dates beginning October 1, 2022. Here’s a summary of the new guideline:

    • Groups with 6 to 50 enrolled employees may offer dual choice by combining two different Premera medical plans.
    • Groups with 10 to 50 enrolled employees may offer triple choice by combining three different Premera medical plans.
    • Metallic-level restrictions have been removed. Groups can elect to offer plans in any metallic level combination.
    • Network plan pairing restrictions have been removed. Groups can elect to offer any combination of the Balance, Choice, or Peak Care plans.
    • A minimum of three employees must enroll on each plan selected for that plan to be offered.
    • Groups may not mix medical-only plans with medical plans that include embedded family dental. Stand-alone dental plans are not available to be paired with medical plans that include family dental.

If you have any questions about the new changes in multiple-choice guidelines, please reach out to your Premera representative or producer.
