Preventive Service Updates Rolled Out July 1

  • July 20, 2023

Updates to our preventive care benefits began July 1, 2023, or as groups renew, for all members with non-grandfathered health plans. These changes are in response to new federal recommendations from the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF).

The following is a summary of additional benefits that may now be covered for Premera health plan members by category.

    • Screening for syphilis infection in nonpregnant adolescents: We’ve added screening for syphilis in adolescents at increased risk for infection.
    • Screening for depression and suicide risk in children and adolescents: We’ve added screening for depression and suicide risk to benefits for children aged 12 years or older.
    • Screening for anxiety in children and adolescents: We now cover screenings for anxiety in children and adolescents aged 8 to 18 years as a preventive benefit.
