Say what? The Importance of Health Insurance Literacy

  • October 20, 2022

Millions of Americans receive healthcare coverage through their employer-sponsored insurance; however, many of those employees don’t understand the basics of their benefits. This can lead to surprise bills and higher out-of-pocket costs. In a recent survey from Optavise, published in Forbes magazine,* 10% of survey respondents didn’t know what an insurance “premium” is and nearly 8% did not know the difference between “in-network” or “out-of-network.”

Now is an excellent time to help your employees understand the basics of their health plan to get the most from their benefits.
