    For fully insured groups only

We want to meet members where they are and make it easier for them to receive important health screenings. For many members in rural service areas, physical proximity to services is a barrier. Mailing test kits to members’ homes is an opportunity that enables them to complete their health screening when they have time, mail back the kit, and receive results within weeks, all without having to leave home.

Premera is partnering with Home Access Health Corporation to supply home test kits to a limited number of members who, potentially due to physical proximity, may experience increased barriers to getting these health screenings.

Beginning in September, select members may receive a letter notifying them of the program followed by the test kit:

FIT for Colorectal Cancer Screening: Recommended screening for individuals aged 50-75 years of age for colorectal cancer at regular intervals, for early detection of abnormalities. The American Cancer Society recommends that individuals receive either a colonoscopy once in 10 years, a flexible sigmoidoscopy once in 5 years, a FIT-DNA test once in 3 years, or a FIT (fecal immunochemical test) once per year.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How are the test kits billed?

There will be no associated cost for the test kit(s) or subsequent lab work. These programs are completely covered by Premera.

How will members be notified of their results?

Members will receive a letter from Home Access informing them of their results within 2 weeks of Home Access’ receipt of the test kit. Members with out-of-range results will receive their results via certified mail and will also receive a phone call from Home Access to discuss results.

How do members opt out of the program?

Members who have previously opted out of other programs are removed from mailing lists. Members who do not wish to participate in future programs can choose to opt out through the IVR reminder call they will receive after the kit is mailed or by contacting customer service.

If the member elects to opt out of this specific program, they may email MemberEngagement@premera.com
