December Premium Relief for Your Clients

  • Your individual clients will be receiving a discount on their December premiums. Their invoices will automatically reflect the discounted amount and be accompanied with the following message:

    We know our members have been impacted by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Premera Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alaska wants to help.

    That’s why we’re giving you a discount on your December premium. This lower amount is reflected on your enclosed invoice and is a one-time discount as allowed by CMS.

    Why is my bill lower than previous months?

    Your December bill is lower than previous months because it reflects the premium relief discount.

    How was the amount of the discount determined?

    We applied a 15% discount to your current coverage period amount for the month of December. If you currently receive an advance premium tax credit, or subsidy, to help pay your monthly premium, the discount will not be more than the amount you’re responsible for paying on your own, and you will not receive money back.

    Is this a one-time discount?

    Yes. This premium relief discount will only appear in your December invoice.

    What if I’m set up on autopay? Do I need to adjust the amount?

    You do not need to make any changes. The amount drafted in November will be adjusted to reflect the premium relief discount.

    What if I’m set up on bank bill pay? Do I need to adjust the amount?

    Depending on your bank, you may need to make a change. Check with your bank to determine if you need to make any adjustments to your bank bill pay for December’s premium.
