  • May 11, 2023

The Governor of Alaska issued Regulatory Order No. R 23-01 to ensure that low- and moderate-income seniors in Alaska have access to Medicare Supplement plans. All health plans offering Medicare Supplement in Alaska must offer a guaranteed issue Medicare Supplement plan to all who missed their open enrollment period because they were enrolled in Medicaid during the Federal Public Health Emergency.

    What you need to know:

    • To qualify, your client must verify that they are losing their Medicaid coverage by submitting a copy of their notification letter.
    • Please send a copy of this letter to medicaresupport@premera.com if you’re enrolling your client in a Premera Medicare Supplement plan.
    • Applicants have a 63-day guarantee issue starting on the date of the applicant’s Medicaid eligibility change without underwriting.

This change is effective immediately and will include applications from March 16, 2023, through August 3, 2024.
