We’ve recently updated our COVID-19 FAQ to include the latest information about the COVID-19 vaccine. Here is what you will want to know:
- There are several vaccines that have made it through all the required trials with little to no side effects and a high percentage of effectiveness.
- Both Moderna and Pfizer vaccines are expected before the end of the year.
- Vaccines made by AstraZeneca and Johnson and Johnson are expected in the first quarter of 2021.
- The FDA Vaccine Advisory Committee (VAC) is meeting in early December to discuss the submitted vaccines. If the VAC votes in favor, the FDA may accept the recommendation and issue an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA).
- Vaccine distribution can begin after an EUA is approved. The FDA and CMS have indicated distribution could begin as early as mid-December.
