To help Medicare members who may need financial assistance, Premera offers a program called My Advocate. My Advocate helps qualified Medicare members enroll in Medicaid and/or Medicare Savings programs. If a member financially qualifies, My Advocate will help members complete and submit the necessary paperwork to have their Medicare Part B premium paid.

    Who qualifies?

Members must meet state financial requirements based on an individual’s monthly income and overall value of their assets.

Why should a member use My Advocate?

My Advocate is a free service and  the application process is easy for members. Sadly, over half of eligible individuals don’t apply for this benefit because it’s too complicated for the member. My Advocate:

    • Interviews the member to see if they’re potentially eligible.
    • Works directly with the member to fill out the applications accurately.
    • Informs the member which financial documents they’ll need to accompany the application.
    • Acts on behalf of the member when following up with the state.
    • Verifies the approval by the state Medicaid agency.

How do members find out about My Advocate?

My Advocate will send letters and/or call Premera members who they think may qualify. If you have a client who you think may qualify, call My Advocate directly at 866-255-9177. This number is specifically for Premera Blue Cross Medicare members.

How do I assure my client this isn’t a scam?

We understand that members may not feel comfortable giving financial information over the phone. To verify, we ask that you tell your clients to call My Advocate directly at 866-255-9177. Once connected, your client will be asked for financial information to see if they may potentially qualify for the benefit.
