Millions of Americans receive healthcare through their employer-sponsored insurance however many of those employees don’t understand the basics of their benefits. This can lead to surprise bills and higher out-of-pocket costs. In a recent survey from Optavise, published in Forbes magazine, 10% of survey respondents didn’t know what an insurance “premium” is and nearly 8% did not know the difference between “in-network” or “out-of-network”.
As we roll into another open enrollment season, it’s an excellent opportunity to educate your employer groups on the tools available to them and their employees so that they can get the most from their benefits beginning with a successful open enrollment.
