After 14 years in the same Anchorage location, Premera Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alaska is moving October 17 to a new office across town.
Our new address is:
3800 Centerpoint Drive, Suite 940
Anchorage, AK 99503
We’re proud of our new location, and we think you’ll love it too.
Learn more about our new home and be sure to stop by our open house in early 2017. Look for details soon.
Some employees of fully insured groups with Premera health plans will receive an at-home test kit that could provide early detection of cancer.
Colorectal cancer is the third leading cause of cancer death, according to the American Cancer Society.
At the end of October, Premera members between the age of 50 and 75 who have not had a recent colorectal screening will receive a fecal immunochemical test (FIT) kit.
The kit tests for hidden blood in the stool (which can be an early sign of cancer). They are easy to use in the comfort of the member's home. Our goal is to make healthcare simple and easy—this is just another way we’re demonstrating our commitment and helping members get the preventive care they need.
The FIT kit has a postage-paid return envelope and instructions for processing.
Alaska Senate Bill 142, which passed earlier this year, may impact the cost shares your employees will pay for certain anti-cancer medications. Changes will be effective starting Jan. 1, 2017.
Premera members who take anti-cancer drugs to treat cancer, related side effects, or a condition other than cancer, employees will pay cost shares according to their health plan benefits. Members should review their medical plan benefits for details about their plan coverage.
Impacted members will receive a letter by mail in late October 2016. If they have additional questions, they should call the customer service number on their Premera ID card.
Premera Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alaska updated the online payment system for group administrators. Group administrators who currently use online bill pay will be asked to update their account information and accept new terms and conditions the next time they log in.
This new payment portal will allow group administrators to pay their bills by logging into the employer portal and selecting the bill pay option.
Additional benefits include:
More details regarding the new online bill pay portal will be sent to group administrators.
Some prescription diabetes drugs currently covered as preferred will be considered non-preferred beginning Nov. 1, 2016, for non-metallic health plans. Learn more about this change.
