Your member card is like a snapshot of your plan. It has the name of your medical plan and dental plan, if you also have that. It also tells you if you have any copays for visits, prescriptions, or emergency services. If you are the subscriber on yourplan, your member ID will end with 01 and any dependents will share the same member number, followed by 02, 03, and so on. Providers need your member ID and group ID so they can correctly bill us. Pharmacies use the Rx information.

Yes, you can.

Every person on your plan who is 13 or older (18 or older in Alaska) needs to make their own account. Unless they give you permission, you can’t see any sensitive claims. Each person on the plan may authorize other family members to view their sensitive claims online. They will also be able to see your used and remaining benefits and personal profile.

A sensitive claim is one that has any diagnosis and/or procedure that is related to genetic information, chemical dependency, mental health, reproductive health, STDs, HIV, or AIDS.

Go to Account Settings. You can authorize which family members or other individuals have permission to discuss your benefits or claims with Premera. You can fill out the online form and specify what type of information (sensitive or not), and an expiration date.

You can also download and use the Information release form  (PDF document) if you’re a member with a Premera Blue Cross group plan. Or, download and use the separate Information release form  (PDF document) if you’re a member with the Premera Blue Cross HMO plan. Mail it to the address on the form.

Go to Account Settings. You can also add or change security questions.
