Premera is committed to quality and the continual improvement of our Medicare Advantage programs. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) recognized that commitment by giving Premera a 4.0 Star Rating for 2020.
Earning a full 1.0 Star improvement over 2019 is no small achievement. As with anything Premera does to make healthcare work better, it was a team effort.
Many within Premera helped us earn the four-star rating, with everyone doing their part to make sure our customers get the care they need. As a four-star Medicare Advantage plan, we can invest more in enhanced benefits for our customers.
We appreciate your support in ensuring your clients understand the value of their Premera plan and use their benefits.
Our portfolio of Medicare Advantage products is expanding in 2020 for the second straight year with enhanced benefits and an expansive provider network. We are also increasing our service area to Island, San Juan, and Walla Walla counties, bringing our total to 12 Washington counties.
Star Rating resources
Enrollment kits: We have updated the Star Rating sheet that is included in every enrollment kit. Going forward, all new kits will have the 2020 Star Rating sheet.

You’ll find two Star Rating sheets for 2020 because Premera holds two Medicare Advantage H-contracts with CMS.
- Our H7245 contract received the 4.0 Star rating and includes HMO, Classic HMO, Classic Plus HMO, Core HMO, Core Plus HMO, and Total Health HMO plans.
- Our H9302 contract maintained a 3.5 Star rating and includes Alpine, Charter +Rx, Peak +Rx, and Sound +Rx plans.
