Individual and Family Plans Filed for 2023

  • August 11, 2022

We’re renewing all our Premera individual and family plans in 2023 and will continue to serve our customers in 5 counties.

Here are the key things to know about next year:

    Plans

All plans are renewing (7): Preferred Bronze, Preferred Bronze HSA, Preferred Silver, Preferred Gold, Cascade Bronze, Cascade Silver, and Cascade Gold.

We’re discontinuing Premera Blue Cross pediatric dental in 2023. Current pediatric dental clients can choose to enroll for pediatric dental plan from another member of Premera's family of companies.

Plan discontinuation notices will be mailed by the end of September, and renewal notices by the end of October. Both will be shared in Producer News and available on our website (see timeline below).

    Counties

Next year, we’ll have the same county footprint for all Premera plans. You can continue to sell Premera plans in 5 counties: Franklin, Grays Harbor, King, Kitsap, and Pacific.

Our affiliate individual plans are not offered in the same counties as Premera Blue Cross, except for King County." The Premera family company products are available in the remaining 35 counties.

    Network

Our network is still the largest of any individual insurer in Washington state. Your Premera Preferred and Cascade plan clients will continue to have access to providers in the Premera Individual Signature network, including UW Medicine, Providence, Swedish, Virginia Mason Franciscan Health, Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, and more.

Having a relationship with a primary care provider (PCP) can increase retention among your clients. Encourage them to select a PCP in their online account, and make sure to use our own Find a Doctor tool at premera.com to verify which providers are in-network.

    Rates

We’ve filed for a requested rate increase of 9.7%. This will help cover the rise in anticipated healthcare and claims costs while ensuring members have access to providers and benefits they need. Rates are not final until approved by the Office of the Insurance Commissioner (OIC) in early September.

    Commission

We’ll continue the same 3-tier compensation structure in 2023. As a reminder, only individual members count toward the tiers. As shown in the table below, you have unlimited earning potential for the top tier.

Tier 1 100+ Individual lives at the agency level (including PBC & affiliates) Commission $17 per-member, per month
Tier 2 60-99 Individual lives at the agency level Commission $15 per-member, per month
Tier 3 <60 Individual lives at the agency level Commission $10 per-member, per month
