Starting November 1, 2019, Victoza will be a non-preferred medication and require prior authorization in order to be covered by Premera Blue Cross. Victoza is an injectable medication to treat type 2 diabetes in adults.

Other similar medications will continue to be covered at the preferred drug cost share, such as Trulicity, Ozempic, Byetta, and Bydureon.

Premera will mail members a letter on September 16, 2019, notifying them of this change.

If one of your employees comes to you with questions about this change, please have them call the number included in their member letter or printed on the back on their ID card.
