• About Paperless EOBs

    What is an EOB?

    Each time you visit a healthcare provider and file a claim, you receive an Explanation of Benefits (EOB), which explains how your claim was processed. An EOB is not a bill.

    EOBs are now posted online and can be accessed from your Premera account. You can choose to receive email notifications and discontinue receiving EOBs by mail. See sample email notification.

    To receive email notifications, add your email address to your contact information and select the "Paperless" option. To discontinue email notifications, uncheck the "Paperless" option.

    Please note:

    • Dependents on your plan? When the plan subscriber signs up for Paperless EOBs, all minor dependents will also automatically receive Paperless EOBs (only applies to children 12 and under). Spouses, domestic partners and dependents (13 and older in Washington and 18 and older in Alaska) may elect the Paperless EOB option, but must register and sign up for it individually in compliance with federal and state privacy laws.
    • Email account shared? By submitting a shared email address, you can specifically acknowledge the possibility of access to your information by others.
    • High-security spam-blockers? You may need to add the Premera domain to your contacts or exceptions.
    • Want to go back to receiving EOBs by mail? Follow the instructions that come with every email notification.
    • Are you a Medicare Supplement member? At this time online EOBs are not available for Medicare Supplement members. Notification will be sent when this service is available.

    Here is a sample of the email you receive from us when you have a new Explanation of Benefits.

    Dear Premera Member,

    You have a new claim Explanation of Benefits (EOB) statement ready to view on premera.com, your secure member website. Here’s how to view the claim:

    1. Go to your Premera home page, at www.premera.com 
    2. In the upper right corner, go to “My Account” and select “Claims”.
    3. Select the state in which you reside, and enter your user name and password to access the secure site.
    4. If the claim you’re looking for is one of your last 3 claims, select the “Details” for that claim to access your Explanation of Benefits statement. To find past claims, select “Search all claims”.
