Grants and Sponsorships

  • Our community giving program focuses on addressing behavioral health issues, with a particular emphasis on funding programs that help historically underserved communities, including people of color and low-income populations. Company contribution guidelines align to our company values and current giving priorities. This means that some previously supported sponsorships may be reduced or discontinued.

Premera Social Impact invites proposals that demonstrate measurable impact in the areas of behavioral health, health equity, and the intersection of homelessness and behavioral health. Some examples include but are not limited to:

    • Program development: Grants to organizations for specific purposes or projects, rather than day-to-day operating costs or the further general purpose or work of an organization.
    • Implementation of a community-led effort to create a business case or demonstration projects for interventions, programs, and policies that address behavioral health.
    • Capacity building: Grants to organizations for staff support, training, and strategic or long-range planning.

To be considered for local support, organizations:

    • Must be tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and not classified as a private foundation
    • Must be based and serve communities in Washington state or Alaska
    • Should be aligned with our funding priorities on underserved populations with particular emphasis on addressing mental and behavioral health needs and integrating those with physical health

The following organizations are not eligible for funding:

    • Organizations that deny service to a potential client or beneficiary on the basis of race, religion, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, national origin, ancestry, citizenship, veteran, or disability status
    • Individuals, including those seeking scholarships or fellowship assistance
    • Political, labor, fraternal organizations, or civic clubs
    • Religious organizations (for example, churches and synagogues). Some secular community service programs such as soup kitchens, shelters for the homeless, and job banks are eligible, even when sponsored by religious groups
    • Individual pre-K-12 schools (public or private)
    • Sports, athletic events, or athletic programs
    • Travel-related events, including student trips or tours
    • Development or production of books, films, videos, or television programs
    • Memorial campaigns
