Mountlake Terrace, Wash. — (January 30, 2019) — Premera Blue Cross, Washington’s leading health plan, today said
cost is not a barrier to getting the measles vaccine from an in-network provider, because preventive immunizations, including booster shots, are covered
for its customers.
“Costs shouldn’t stand in the way of someone who wants an MMR vaccine. All immunizations, even booster shots for adults, are fully covered under our preventive services benefit,” said Dr. David Buchholz, a medical
director for Premera.
Earlier this week, the Washington Department of Health announced
36 confirmed cases of measles, 35 in Clark County and 1 in King County. The best protection against measles is the MMR vaccine, which protects against measles, mumps and rubella.
