MOUNTLAKE TERRACE, WA – (August 18, 2014) — Premera and Seattle Children’s Hospital are pleased to announce an agreement that provides expanded access to care at Children’s for Premera members on individual and small group metallic health plans both inside and outside the Exchange. The agreement brings Children’s Hospital and the Children’s University Medical Group into our networks beginning September 1. Those networks include Heritage Signature and Heritage Prime networks.
We’re very happy to be able to expand access to Children’s for our members on these plans without raising rates for our customers. Premera will not change currently-filed rates for individual and small group customers in 2014 and 2015.
“We are delighted that all of our members will have full access to Seattle Children’s,” said Rich Maturi, Senior Vice President for Health Care Delivery Systems at Premera.
“We’re very pleased to move forward with an agreement that benefits the patients and families we serve,” said Sandy Melzer, Senior Vice President & Chief Strategy Officer, Seattle Children’s. “We’re also pleased to announce that as a result of these successful negotiations, we will be dismissing our pending appeal with the Office of the Insurance Commissioner (OIC) as it relates to Premera.”
This news enhances our already robust individual and small group network, providing our members even more choice and flexibility in choosing a healthcare provider.
Members will find information about the new doctors and hospitals in our exchange network in their 2015 benefit booklets; these doctors will also appear in our online “Find a Doctor” tool for 2015 health plans.
