Specialty Pharmacy Program

  • The Specialty Pharmacy Program is for members who require specialty medications that are usually self-injected and used to treat complex or rare conditions such as multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, or hepatitis C. Taking specialty medications often means you’ll need extra help learning how to take and manage the medications.

Premera partners with specialty pharmacies that help you manage your medications through:

    • Patient education
    • Working with you to assure you are taking your medications correctly and being compliant with the drug therapy
    • Clinical support for dosing and potential side effects
    • Medication ordering and delivery options

    • Many specialty drugs can be self-administered, so you don’t need a healthcare professional to give you the medication. View the Self-Administered Specialty Drug List to see if the drug you’re taking qualifies.
    • See your benefit summary for more information on the specialty drug provisions of your plan or contact Customer Service for more information.
