A New Option for Digital ID Card

    Based on feedback we received from providers, the Premera Blue Cross mobile app is adding a feature to allow members to fax a copy of their digital ID card to a provider. This feature will be in addition to the current capability, which allows members to download a copy to their phone and email to the provider.

    To fax a copy of the ID card, members enter their provider's fax number and name in the app. The front and back of the ID card is then securely communicated to our fax vendor and sent to the provider. It should only take a few minutes for the provider to receive the fax.

    The member will receive a message that the fax was sent, but won’t get confirmation the provider received their ID card. For this reason, members may contact the provider’s office to confirm they received the ID card.

    The feature is launching on Android at the end of March and the team is targeting second quarter for the iOS launch.
