Claims Deny for WEA Plan

    Premera no longer provides health plan benefits for the Washington Education Association (WEA). Claims submitted to Premera with WEA member ID numbers will be denied.

    If your patient still has a WEA health plan, they have coverage through a different insurer and claims need to be submitted to that health plan.

    Several school districts previously part of WEA decided to stay with Premera for their coverage. These members have new Premera plans and new Premera ID numbers as of November 1, 2017. You’ll need to use the new ID numbers when submitting claims to us for dates of service on or after November 1, 2017, otherwise the claim will deny.

    What to do if your claim is denied

    You’ll need to resubmit the claim using the correct member ID to the correct health plan. You can verify eligibility and benefits at Premera.com/wa/provider. This will help you to confirm if your patient still has health coverage through Premera or through a different insurer.
