Experts estimate that the cost of an emergency department visit for a non-urgent condition is two to five times greater than the cost of receiving care in a primary care setting for the same condition. Premera’s quality member engagement team will be sending an informational mailing to 1,042 Federal Employee Program (FEP) members in Alaska and eastern Washington who have visited the emergency room more than one time this year.
The mailing provides information about Premera’s 24-Hour NurseLine, telehealth services, and urgent care centers.
