Premera Launches Mobile Messaging

  • January 4, 2018

Do your patients sometimes get behind on their health screenings and other preventive care? If you spend a lot of time on reminders, you'll find an ally in Premera's new text messaging service.

In December, Premera launched a new, secure text messaging service to help customers stay healthier and benefit from their health plans.

The mobile messaging is initially available to the Washington Individual and Group markets, Starbucks, and Premera's employee health plan (Premera Associate Plan). This service isn't yet available to all employer plans, to the Federal Employee Program, or to Medicare Advantage.

New customer ID cards will have a sticker with a number to call and opt-in to the text messaging program. We'll be sending 1-2 text messages a month.

With a 98 percent open rate, short text messages are a quick and effective way to improve our customers' health outcomes. Customers will receive personalized health reminders (such as health screening reminders), notifications on how to access important plan information, and alerts on getting the most from their health plan, including available benefits they may not be using. Customers can opt out of individual texts (text STOP) or to all messages by texting STOP or STOPALL.
