    Manage Multiple Medications Safely

    Know What Medications You Take

    • Keep a complete list of your medicines, using My Medication List
    • Include each drug’s strength, quantity, frequency and what you’re taking it for, as well as any over-the-counter medications, herbs, supplements or vitamins

    Review Your Medications

    • Review your medication list regularly with your doctor and pharmacist. Tell them whenever you start or stop taking any medicine, even if another doctor has told you to start or stop it
    • Check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking any medication, including herbal supplements and over-the-counter drugs such as cold medicine
    • Try to use the same pharmacy to fill all of your prescriptions

    Take Your Medications Regularly

    • Use a seven-day pillbox to help you remember to take your medications regularly
    • Get your prescriptions refilled before you run out. Mark your calendar with the refill date and be sure to allow time for your pharmacy or mail-order service to process your order
