    Premera DentalBlue plans encourage preventive care and promote good oral health habits that can lead to better overall health outcomes. Plans are available for groups of five or more employees.

    Network strength and accessibility

    The strength of our dental network and access to nationwide contracted dental providers makes it easy for your employees to find the right dentist for their needs, and it translates into greater savings for in-network services.

    • With Premera DentalBlue Preference, Optima and Essential plans, employees have access to nearly two out of three dentists in Washington.
    • Providers in our network accept our allowable charges as payment in full, which can save members money.  Providers not in our network may charge back to the member the difference between our allowable charge and their billed charge.

    A range of product options to build a comprehensive benefits package

    Premera offers a range of dental plans offering choice and flexibility, allowing employers to offer a more attractive and comprehensive employee benefits package. Our dental portfolio:

    • provides dental care with no deductibles for cleaning, routine exams and X-rays, sealants and fluoride treatments
    • gives employers a wide range of coverage options to strike the right balance between coverage and cost
    • offers packaged or stand-alone product coverage options, dual choice options for some employers as well as employer-sponsored and voluntary dental plans
    • includes free online tools for members offering a wealth of dental health information such as Dental Health Center, Dental Cost Estimator and easy access to our dental provider directory.

    • Dental Preference™ - offers plan members choice and control over their out-of-pocket spending. Members who get care for covered services from our network providers enjoy the plan’s highest benefit level and cost savings. Note: support for small group plans is available through Connexion Insurance Solutions.*
    • Dental Optima™ - offers an array of deductible and coinsurance cost-share options. Coinsurance for covered services remains constant regardless of whether the service is provided in-network or out-of-network.
    • Dental Copay Select™ - offers predictable costs on more than 200 dental procedures. Our strong and growing network offers convenient access to quality dental care. This plan is an affordable option for employers looking to provide full benefits, but with a reduced benefits budget.
    • Dental Essentials™ - can be funded 100 percent by employees, or employers can voluntarily choose to fund a portion of employee premiums (up to 50 percent). Regardless, Dental Essentials members receive the highest benefits when they choose services from in-network providers. Or they have the choice to use an out-of-network provider, at a reduced benefit level.
    • Dental Preventive™ - members can use any licensed or certified dental-care provider. Coinsurance for covered services remains constant regardless of whether the service is provided in-network or out-of-network.

    Optional Benefits

    Employers with at least 26 employees can increase the value to their employees of the Dental Optima and Dental Preference Plus plans by offering additional benefits. Available options:

    • Move periodontal and endodontic services between the Major and Basic categories
    • Offer orthodontia benefits
    • Add TMJ dental services
